Best of the week - September17
Its been kind of an exhausting week. We booked all our hotel stays for our 6 week trip to various parts of Asia, save a 1 day stay in Hong Kong before we leave for home!! yippee!!! I finally called Air Miles to sort out the hotel voucher I ordered last November which never arrived. Yes, it took me almost a year to make myself call them. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate talking on the phone? I can handle talking to my mom and brother, but thats about it. Even talking to my dad is a bit straining since he doesn't really tell me what he's up to. Anyway, with the Air Miles I have and did have, we will be staying at a 5 star and a 4 star (very nice!) Starwood brand hotel in Kuala Lumpur and Nanjing! Woo hoo!
We haven't totally ironed out the details, but our 6 week trip's accommodation costs should be about half of the amount we pay for rent here, not including the amount we pay for electricity and internet and all that nonsense! Super cool...
Movies - We rented a bunch (5) of action movies. I really liked Aeon Flux (funny, since I didn't want to watch it before due to Charlize Theron being in it), The Bourne Supremacy (we watched the Bourne ultimatum already, so i guess we need to watch the 1st one next!), G.I. Jane... haven't seen Syriana yet, but probably will today or tomorrow.
Music - I acquired a lot of music this week and haven't listened to it all, but here are a few of the albums I really like, so far:
1) Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests Of Josh Ritter - I've only listened to it twice so far, but I really like it so far. Kind of Alt-rock I guess you could call it. You can listen to a few tracks on his website, linked above.
2) The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour
3) My Little Airport - Zoo Is Sad, People Are Cruel. This Hong Kong based indie-pop band has some really catchy songs in both English and Cantonese. Check them out here
4) Ferraby Lionheart - Catch the Brass Ring . This is great background music - folksy stuff. Click on the link above to check out his stuff on his Myspace page.
5) Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience And Grace. Way better and much more listenable than their last album! Greg really likes them, so its nice that I can stand this album.
I just got iWork 08' ! I loved using the trial version so I am happy to finally have the boxed copy to write my papers on and play around with. Greg made some great travel info booklets on Numbers, which we will print off and use as a homemade travel guide rather than lugging around a book for each of the countries we will be visiting.
I made a post about my dream library: http://teamsugar.com/group/548454/blog/634865

Post a CommentI am a huge Josh Ritter fan. I have both of his last albums and a few songs from the one before that and a lot of the songs have become favorites. He's absolutely fantastic live if you ever get the chance to see him.
i love his stuff, too popgoestheworld! do you like Sam Roberts? He's amazing, as well! If you like Josh Ritter, i'm sure you'll like his stuff too. I would love to see either of these two guys in concert!
Awesome, thanks for the suggestion. I'm always looking for new music!
You are so lucky!
Thanks for share it!
