I'm listening all my Neko Case right now (which is every album she has) and listening to the sound of crazy yabos yelling outside (as is usual in this country), and the rain.

I finally took the plunge and found an RSS reader that I like, and so have added quite a lot of feeds to it so far. I'm loving it - our internet connection is practically dial-up speed and cuts out a lot, so its nice to see whats going on on a variety of websites quickly. So - if GeekSugar asks me again "How many blogs are in your RSS reader?" I'll be able to say that I currently have 105. As I've been adding them in (rather then studying), I've come across a lot of new-to-me ones, so...here are...

A Few Good Blogs
Belle Vivir - a home decor blog
Designers Block - a decor blog from the UK
Imedagoze - a great blog that directed me to many other good ones and some neat stores. It is by a Singaporean woman who is "a mother of two who has great admiration for the creators behind every beautiful and creative things."

Best things I've watched - I finally got a change to watch the movie that got Sook-Yin Lee of CBC Radio (She does the "Definitely Not the Opera" show and podcast) in to so much hot water: Shortbus. Just as I've been putting this together I found out that "Neko Case covered Lee's song "Knock Loud" on her 2001 EP Canadian Amp." from Wikipedia. interesting.
Here's some more about it:
"In 2003, she became the centre of controversy when the CBC threatened to fire her for taking a role in John Cameron Mitchell's sexually explicit film Shortbus, in which she performs unsimulated intercourse and masturbation on screen. When their position proved unpopular with the public, and celebrities such as director Francis Ford Coppola, R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, actress Julianne Moore and artist and musician Yoko Ono rallied behind her, the CBC backed down."

other I've been working on the Bangkok section of Greg and I's Travel book but am now sort of working on Kuala Lumpur. Basically, Greg (who has a background in Graphic Design) has put together a great "book" which will take the place of a travel book for each city/country we'll visit. We will have it professionally printed, which will cost about $20. It'll be a square little book with lots of pictures, maps, lists and locations of all the vegan/veg. restaurants we want to visit and all the things we'll do and see, plus directions to the hotels we've booked. It'll be a nice souvenir, too.
Also - We booked a really nice train from Hong Kong to Beijing. We'll have the whole berth to ourselves and even a washroom! woo hoo! that'll be nice since the trip is 24hours long! Trains are much more expensive in China than India, but still reasonable.
I've been thinking a lot lately - well, since i got here, that the sky here in New Zealand seems to HUGE because i can often see sooo many stars...but i found this site today which talks about light pollution using some comparative pictures. Its true that there are more lights on back home then here (making it even more difficult to drive/walk here when it is dark out). . . i dunno...just something to think about.
